Veena Raj grew up in India and has called the US home for over 26 years. After completing her Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, she came to the US to work as a programmer and pursued a Master’s degree in Software Engineering. Drawing and painting have always been her favorite pastimes, and she learned watercolor painting for many years as a hobby. Art took a backseat to focus on being a mom. She returned to it after quitting her full-time job and has been honing her skills ever since.
Veena is a member of the Georgia Watercolor Society and Acworth Arts Alliance. She is a featured artist at AVE Gallery, an entirely virtual art gallery curated by a local Marietta artist. You can find her original paintings, notecards and prints at the Smith-Gilbert Gardens gift shop, AVE Gallery and The Art House member gallery.
She is a firm proponent of STEAM education and empowering youth through PTSA programs has been one of the biggest joys in recent years. Engaging students through various activities with inclusive and diverse perspectives is of utmost importance to her. Providing a glimpse of the rich arts and cultural heritages from various countries are pivotal in the programs she creates with the goal of making it appealing to all attendees. Family engagement events like STEAMapalooza and International Night have provided opportunities for community outreach both within and outside the school. When Veena is not visualizing or dreaming up creative ways to make the next community event a memorable one, she is busy keeping up with her son’s various activities. She enjoys planning trips and experiences for her family.
