As a music educator, Karis Stephen has worn many hats over her 20+ years in education. She got her start in theater playing trumpet at the Hollywood Playhouse in South Florida before becoming a teacher. She taught dance for more than 10 years and danced competitively for 6 of those years, winning many accolades along the way. She began her music education career at Eagle Point Elementary in Weston, FL, before moving to Georgia in 2006, where she continued teaching in Cobb County at Nicholson Elementary, where she currently teaches today. As a music educator, she has directed over 150 performances and has choreographed for both chorus and Broadway Jr shows. She started a musical theater club at her school in 2018 and under the mentorship of Pete Bush, began directing Broadway, Jr shows. In 2021, she worked with Pete on their first Broadway, Jr. summer camp with Mary Poppins, Jr. They enjoyed working together so much that they made this a yearly event. They joined forces and formed the nonprofit PSBCreative Arts Education, Inc., where she serves on our Board of Directors as Founding Managing Director / Vice Chair. She is excited to grow this children's theater group, as education and serving her community are two of her greatest passions.
